What is Horror?

Horror is what leaves a tingle down your spine. Something that will not only leave the view uneasy but also unsafe. For most viewers horror can be fun and easy to enjoy making you believe that in a world upon 7 billion people, danger will always be lurking

Content 

Movies such as Psycho and The Exorcist are well known for actually starting the horror genre. It gives the erie but suspenseful vibe making the audience more appealed to the idea of being scared and feeling fear.

Ex: Hereditary (2018)
  Not only does Ari Aster's 'Hereditary' give an erie and suspenseful vibe but also gives a simple stories that unravels into a sinister story. Made in 2018 it tells the story of a family who goes through many tragedies learning many new things about their family.



Ex: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is about teens who set off on a road trip but then get stranded. In hopes to find a way back to humanity they stumble upon a home getting picked off one by one as they meet a strange family. 

Production Techniques

Usually using real fears, jump scares, and things such as tight framing. These production techniques are well known when being used by horror films not only making an unsafe environment for the watcher but also making the watcher uncomfortable using these techniques which are usually unexpected. 

Marketing 

Markets usually from 15-25 because teens are the one usually featured in these types of movies. Either dumbing them down or making them the most ambitious teen out there. Usually giving a simple story and background to these simple characters and villains. Making it easy for the audience to better understand and hence not expecting what the future events will be.
